Abstract

The rise in investment activities within Indonesia serves as a sign of favorable economic development, as shown by the growing interest from new investors eager to begin investing with the anticipation of future asset appreciation, primarily driven by the millennial demographic and students. This research evaluates the impact of financial literacy, overconfidence, and risk tolerance on investment choices. The participants in this research are accounting students from Batam City University. This study employed a simple random sampling method. Using the Slovin formula, a total of 100 participants were identified. The findings indicated that financial understanding significantly influenced investment choices, revealing that students from Batam City with strong financial knowledge could effectively utilize different financial instruments. Overconfidence was found to significantly affect investment decisions, suggesting that this trait can motivate students to take greater risks in their investment choices. In contrast, risk tolerance did not significantly influence investment decisions, implying that many students in Batam City perceived investing primarily as a means to generate profit, neglecting the acceptance of potential future risks.
