The Role of Correctional Guardians in Implementing Guidance for Correctional Inmates

Abstract

Corrections are a sub-system of Indonesian criminal justice, where corrections are the final part of the criminal system. Corrections is a mechanism to help people who are in prison or correctional institutions to learn from their mistakes and avoid repeat offenses so that they can rejoin society and live productive and law-abiding lives after release, as well as being part of development. There are two types of coaching, namely personality development and independence development, which is an overall approach to the correctional system to improve the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of prisoners and correctional students. Implementation of personality development activities involves Correctional Officers, Correctional Guardians, Community Advisors, Structural Officials, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Religion, church pastors, Scout Officers, Provincial/City BNN, PKBM Institutions. In terms of implementing independence development activities, it involves Correctional Officers, Correctional Guardians, Community Counselors, Structural Officials, and in collaboration with the Agriculture Service, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service, Job Training Agency, Waste Bank Industry, Barbershop Industry.
